MY MORNING PRAYER by Chuck Sullivan ......................Copyright ©1995

Thank You Heavenly Father for this another day,
Thank You for all the blessings that You have sent my way,
Thank You for my neighbors, for my friends and family,
Thank You for the guidance, that You have given me,

Thank You for my health, and for the forgiveness of my sins,
Lead me up the right path, as this new day begins,
Keep me mindful of others, as this day wears on,
And I pray my day will please You Lord, when this day is gone,

AMEN

To the people of the bible belt,
Thank God that you're around,
For you are the belt that keeps
America's pants from falling down.

TROUBLES by Chuck Sullivan.....................................................March 1996

Our troubles are caused by so many things,
It's a typical annoyance that just living brings,
Much of our troubles we attribute to fate,
Or saying yes too soon or no too late.

But when these troubles drag you down,
Talk to the one who is always around,
Who listens with patience and answers with love,
An sends you strength from heaven above.

GOD IS ALWAYS NEAR by Chuck Sullivan ...............Copyright© 1995

When we bow our heads to pray, God is always near,
He hears every word we say and holds our thoughts most dear,
He will always love you, He will never turn away,
His love is always present, it's with you every day.

We thank Him for our many joy's and gifts sent from above,
We thank Him for our Savior, and our Savior's love,
He will always love you, His love is always there,
Just ask and you find it, His love is every where.

FILL YOUR LIFE WITH JOY by Chuck Sullivan...................Copyright©1995

God so loved the world that he gave his only son,
Who died on the cross, for the sins of everyone.
His promise is life for all eternity,
He suffered and died for the sins of you and me.

Open up your heart, so Jesus can come in,
And fill your life with joy, that never more will end.
If you are faithful, He will be around,
To strengthen and comfort you, when troubles get you down.

When you live for Jesus, He is always there,
Jesus is the answer, if you come to Him in prayer.
So open up your heart, so Jesus can come in,
And fill your life with joy, that never more will end.

LISTENING by Chuck Sullivan ......................................................Copyright©1996

If you tend to be opinionated,
I think that you will find,
Much more can be accomplished
When you keep an open mind.

Be proud of being assertive,
But use this gift with care,
Being assertive is not uncommon,
But good listeners are very rare.

THE FLOOR BENEATH THE TREE
 by Chuck Sullivan ...........Copyright ©1996

There's been too many Christmas',
where too much time was spent,
in celebrating Christmas,
not what Christmas really meant,

I knew the Christmas story.
I was familiar with that part,
but I was never open to receive,
Christmas in my heart.

Many times the floor,
beneath the tree was pretty bare,
and only gifts for our children,
were present under there.

As the years passed by,
and our blessing grew and grew,
the floor beneath the tree
had grown larger too,

In time it was covered,
with presents and toys,
but there was no emphasis,
on real Christmas joys.

When the presents were all opened,
and the floor was just bare wood,
I always had this empty feeling,
that I never understood.

Until I learned the answer,
to why that feeling haunted me,
there was a bare spot in my heart,
like the floor beneath the tree.

Christmas had always been there,
on the floor beneath the tree,
instead of being in my heart,
where it always longed to be.

Since Jesus came into my heart,
there is no emptiness there,
when the floor beneath the tree,
once again, is bare.

A Prayer For Independence Day
by Chuck Sullivan .............©4 July 2001

On this day we celebrate America's Independence,
of that time long ago when this nation came to be,
A nation under God that has been known ever since,
As the home of the brave and the land of the free.

It is our fervent prayer as we celebrate this day,
That we never forget how this nation was conceived,
And that you Lord will continue to show us the way,
Keeping us always mindful how freedom was achieved.

At times we get discouraged and feel we're heading for a fall,
And we pray Lord that there will always be those around,
Who for the love of You, and America, will give their all,
Who will always remain steadfast and ever duty bound.

Renew us as a nation and strengthen us oh Lord,
Instill in us a hunger so that we shall always crave,
Freedom in our hearts and direction from Your word,
And prevail as the land of the free and the home of the brave.

THANKSGIVING!
By Chuck Sullivan

Thanksgiving is a special time,
But we are celebrating what?
Why do have the holiday?
Is it for giving thanks or not?

It’s a special time for families,
To thank God for all our blessings,
And maybe carve a turkey,
With all its fancy dressing.

Who is celebrating Turkey?
Be assured it isn’t me,
I celebrate Thanksgiving,
The way it’s meant to be.

This then is my rebellion,
against the changing of the name.
To call Thanksgiving turkey day,
Is such a dirty rotten shame.

The Potter's Work ............ by Chuck Sullivan

The potter molds a lump of clay,
into a vessel made from earth.
It has a mission to be filled,
an empty pot has little worth.

Each of us are earthen vessels.
From dust our lives began,
as a work of art from the Master Potter,
each formed by the Master's hand.

The Potter's work is always unique,
no two vessels are ever the same.
Some must carry heavy burdens,
others may carry riches and fame.

Each vessel is a part of God's plan.
We are free to accept that or not.
Each was formed with the Masters Hand,
and we must serve Him with what we've got.

Fill it with love and the Holy Spirit,
and a story that you long to share,
how Christ died on the cross for you,
and all mankind every where.

It's the Lord's desire that each vessel be pure,
but sin is always lurking within.
If you will only keep Christ alive inside,
He will forgive you all your sins.

Don't fill your vessel with earthly things,
like pride, hate and sinful pleasures.
You will miss the promise of eternal life,
and never know heaven's treasures.
